What To Watch 〰️

So you’ve come to the end of the greatest reality TV show of all time (in my humble opinion!), Vanderpump Rules. This show encapsulates the perfect blend of unhinged chaos, unbelievable drama, hysterical one-liners, high highs, and low lows.

You might now be asking, “What can I watch to fill the Vanderpump Rules-sized hole in my life?” Well, I have some suggestions!

For a Continuation of The Story: The Valley

This is the most natural next step, because it follows the lives of former VPR cast members Kristen Doute, Brittany Cartwright, and Jax Taylor, along with some of their friends. Although it does not give the exact same vibes, as this show follows the trio ‘settled down’, it will give you comfort seeing some of the OGs. Don’t fear, there is still plenty of drama. Currently, two fully released seasons are available to watch on Peacock, and a third season is starting on April 1st, featuring additional VPR cast members Tom Schwartz and Lala Kent.

Similar vibes, Just in New York: Summer House

Summer House is another natural next show to watch because Stassi’s season five birthday trip to the Hamptons actually helped launch the show. I will admit, this show does take a few seasons to warm up, but it fills so much of the VPR void with its youthful energy, hysterical and very quoteable one-liners, and, of course, the chaos. The main difference between the two shows is the location, as Summer House is set on the opposite coast, with the main cast living in New York City during the week and venturing out to the Hamptons on the weekend. Nonetheless, this show is easy and fun to watch, just like Vanderpump Rules is. Summer House is currently airing its tenth season on Tuesday nights on Bravo, and you can catch up with the previous seasons on Peacock.

On Par With The Drama: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

If you ever thought when watching Vanderpump Rules, “I didn’t think reality TV could be this good”, you will have the same excitement watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. I will admit, these are very different shows. On VPR, it seems everyone is unburdened by the expectations of society, whereas on SLOMW, the presence of religion and the societal expectations that come with it are very prominent. However, in terms of unbelievable drama and chaos, SLOMW is a great match for VPR. Similar to the way that Vanderpump Rules has produced stars that are breaking barriers in the entertainment world, this show is doing the same. The fourth season is about to air on Hulu on March 12th, and they seem to be releasing about two seasons each year.

If You Miss The Los Angeles Vibes (or LVP): The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

This is what I’m currently watching (I’m on season 2!). It’s hard to believe, because Vanderpump Rules is top-notch reality TV, that it actually started as a spinoff show of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend watching it, even if you think you are not a fan of the housewives shows. As someone who watched VPR first, it's so interesting to see Lisa in her first years on reality TV, and it’s obvious why they gave her a spinoff show. The viewer often gets glimpses into SUR, and you may even spot a Vanderpump Rules OG like Kristen or Stassi. The show is set in the same city, so you do get those LA vibes, but from a luxury perspective. The show is an enjoyable watch right from the first episode. The show is currently airing its 15th season on Bravo, and you can catch up on the previous seasons on Peacock.

A New Show With Potential: Next Gen NYC

One of the reasons I love watching VPR is due to the nostalgia of much simpler times. You can feel the 2013 vibes immediately, which I love. However, if you are looking for a show a little more current, I think Next Gen NYC might be the show for you! With its first season premiering last year and its second season coming soon, this show feels very much set in the social media era, and it follows a group of 20-somethings living life in NYC. Seems like a simple premise, but there is still plenty of drama and chaos that is easy to watch. Also, if you are a fan of housewives shows, you may recognize some familiar faces. You can currently watch the first season on Peacock.

If You Love A Competition Reality Show: The Traitors

The Traitors is a competition reality show, so it’s not similar to VPR at all, however (hear me out!), it is such an addictive and bingeable watch. Each season features a mix of reality TV stars and celebrities, some of whom are assigned ‘faithful’ and some are secretly assigned ‘traitor’. The traitors are meant to act like faithfuls, and the faithfuls are trying to figure out who the traitors are. It is dramatic, but still has moments of hysterics, and really feels like an elevated reality show. Vanderpump Rules OG, Tom Sandoval, appeared on season three, but I think this is also a great opportunity to learn about other reality shows you might want to watch through the rest of the cast, as you grow fond of them all and learn about their backgrounds. The fourth season just wrapped up, but you can catch up on all previous seasons (and the UK seasons) on Peacock.

If You Miss Seeing Ariana On Your Screen: Love Island USA (Seasons Six and Seven)

Similar to The Traitors, Love Island USA is a competition reality show, but this one could be more VPR adjacent because our queen, Ariana Madix, is the host! She truly does a wonderful job, her looks are out of this world, and dare I say it, this show has some of the same components that make up VPR. Each season features a new group of singles looking for love, many of whom live very normal lives, working normal jobs, but they are stuck in a villa together, so of course, drama ensues. You see real and raw emotions, but also very funny moments as well. Season Eight is expected to premiere during the summer of 2026, but you can catch up on the previous seasons right now on Peacock.

Other Suggestions That I Haven’t Watched Yet: Southern Hospitality and Vanderpump Villa

I’ve grouped Southern Hospitality and Vanderpump Villa together because I haven’t watched either yet, but I’ve heard these give very similar vibes to Vanderpump Rules. Southern Hospitality follows a very similar premise to VPR, featuring a group of young people working in a club/restaurant based in Charleston, South Carolina. Vanderpump Villa is described on Hulu as “a new reality series following Lisa Vanderpump’s hand-selected staff as they work, live, and play at an exclusive French estate: Chateau Rosabelle”. Both shows sound promising to me, and are definitely on my ‘to watch’ list!

Whichever show you choose to venture into next, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with any of these!

All my best,

Sammie
